2003 Honda S2000 Upgrades, where to start?
I purchased a 2003 Honda S2000 last December and I love it! Long story short I'm looking to get it some more power and I'm curious where I should start. Been doing a fair share of reading and I'm stumped. I'm seeing that cold air intakes don't really do anything for the s2000 and I know thats a basic starting point.
The S 2000 is a highly tuned engine already. Simple bolt on extras will be worthless and the engine is built to rev high and produce a lot for a normally aspirated engine. I think anything you can do that makes a difference to power output will have a bad effect on reliability and I'd suggest you leave it alone. Perhaps the way to make it faster is to modify the suspension brakes and wheels though again Honda have a great compromise with comfort and handling. You may need to buy a different car to get much change.
I'd say start with weight reduction. Lighter rims with sticky tires, hood, trunk, drive shaft, battery, etc. Then stiffen up your chassis and suspension. Add a proper LSD.
Aside from a turbo or supercharger you won't be making too much power over stock. The S2000 is basically tuned to the max from the factory.
- Upgrades to make a 86 Honda prelude faster? Hi, I have a 1986 Honda prelude, 1.8L dual carbourated, 5 speed, 170, xxx miles. I just did a tune up (Spark plugs, Oil, fuel filter.) this car runs really good, and is somewhat fast for being almost 30 years old. I want to do some simple upgrades on it to make it faster though. I have around $250 bucks and was wondering how far that could get me.
