Are 90s cars consider classics now?
If I have a 1990 Honda Accord, Civic, Camry, etc. Which is roughly 25 and a half years old, will it be considered a classic car?
If not, what is the definition?
Hi the definition is an old heap.
Not yet.
In most states a car that is thirty years old is considered a "antique" and for collector purposes this is a pretty widely accepted number. So from the age stand point it is getting close. But the term classic is hard to define, a Honda is not a rare car. But neither were 57 Chevies or 22 model T's. 1990 Miata's are increasing in value.
It might be a car that is worth preserving! Meaning- if it is in good shape maintain it, keep it running, complete and unaltered. The value should start to climb, but not rapidly. It would be a fun car to restore and take to shine and show events.
In Ohio, a car can have a Historical Vehicle license plate once it hits 25 years old. I believe the car has to have been weened off of daily driver status and is used as a pleasure vehicle. Other states likely have similar laws.
As far as the cars you mentioned being considered classics - those are still a dime a dozen vehicles that are everywhere. They are well built cars but offer nothing other than an A-B commute. I can see early - mid 90s Civics being collector cars twenty years from now due to the popularity of the tuner scene, but as of today they are just old economy cars.
They are vintage, but not many classics among them. Classics have to be something special, something you would not have seen every day even back when they were current or at least they had to have been highly sought at the time. That makes a 1965 Mustang a classic but a 1975 Pinto… Not. Classic status may not last forever, for the same reason. When I was younger Nash Metropolitans were classics but there's not much market for them now. Everybody who wants one has one.
- What do you guys consider a slow 0 to 60 time? My 15 year old Honda does it in anywhere from the high 7 to low 8 and I finds that to be VERY slow what do you guys find to be a slow time?
- Should I consider buying or move on? I like the 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-l. I test drove one recently that's at a good price and miles. The only problem is that the steering wheel shakes above 50mph and continues while at 70 to 75mph. Should this be an automatic deal breaker or should I consider buying and bring to mechanic to inspect? I hate to waste money for multiple mechanic inspections.
- Is it better to sell Cheap cars or Expensive cars? As a car salesman? Some people would think cheap cars but people with bad credit get declined often. I know this because my credit sucks and i'm almost always declined for cars. I'm sure this makes it tougher to get a sale right? This has me thinking, i want to sell cars. Should selling luxury cars like mercedes and bmw be better than selling hondas and toyotas?
- Early 90s and 2000 hondas, nissan, or toyota for first car? I like the early 90s or early 2000 cars and I want either a honda, nissan, or a toyota, but I don't know which one to get. I want a 2 door car like a crx, mr2, or a 240 or anything like those, but I don't know which brand is better. what kind of japanese 90s or 2000s car would you recommend for a person normally drives alone but sometimes have 3 other passengers.
