Auto repair collision advice for radiator core replacement?
I got in a minor accident and I need to replace my 94 Honda accords radiator support core. I need some advice on the replacement part. Should I get a genuine support from the dealer which is really expensive or should I get the extremely affordable aftermarket replacement. What do you think a collision expert would recommend? Any advice is very appreciated thanks -mikE
Older vehicle, get the cheap parts. (Aftermarket or good used) They should last the rest of the cars life. Otherwise you can easily spend more repairing the car than it's worth.
Buy the aftermarket.Honda did not make the original one! It is produced by a company such as Calsonic which makes radiators, heater cores, condensers for A/C, and evaporator cores for different auto makers. Get a rough measurement of the OEM unit HxWxthickness and if an A? T pay attention to which side the cooler lines are on. Should look just like the original with no rigging required. The Rock Auto site is a good place to start. They offer photos and usually have several brands with various warranties. If you decide to purchase local, NAPA is a good choice.
- My husband is great at auto repair? So he has built and rebuilt transmissions. On a Honda Toyota and Chevys and replaced engins as well. So don't you think he can do a heater core replacement. Or is this job in a league of its own.

- What auto shops do a whole transmission change from auto to manual in Southern Cali? Trying to change my 97 Honda Civic hatchback transmission from auto to manual and want to know any trust worthy places with quality work here in Southern California preferably in the Inland Empire area. Please and thank you
- How long does it take to get a core charge refund for a steering rack? I just purchased a steering rack for a 99 Honda Civic on Partsgeek.com. I was initially stunned by the $205 core charge, but apparently other online stores have similar core charges for steering racks. I was just wondering for those of you who have done this before, how long does it take to get the refund once tracking confirms they have received the old part?
