Battery light comes on and power steering goes out?

04 Honda Accord. This is what happens:
It's always in rainy/wet weather, so I have my headlights turned on. When it happens, I can always shut something off (radio, lights, A/C) and the problems goes away (the battery light goes off and power steering comes back). Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Also, it is not the belt, just replaced it a couple months ago, and it is still nice and tight. There's steering fluid in there also. It happened once a few days ago, and then 5-6 times yesterday.

Sounds like the serpentine belt is slipping. Typically due to the belt tensioner being weak and an old belt. If you grab the belt with engine and key off, you should be able to pull it with a lot of effort, and then it should spring back. Other severe items could be the alternator or power steering pump bearings could be going bad causing the belt to slow down or stop, but typically when that happens it burns the belt up.

I did a little checking around Mainly because I haven't worked on a Honda in awhile I thought they didn't have power steering so I went to Honda direct and found out there's a recall on the 04 power steering unit
an O ring in the fluid line inlet hose The recall indicates a manufacture defect therefore its a repair you shouldn't have to pay for You have to take the vehicle to Honda to get it done free Below is the link for the recall You may want to check further I don't have the specific car info to look further like engine size etc
That information is located under the hood there's a sticker that will say the engine size.

Hope it helps

Your belt is slipping or your idle is too low

I agree with a couple of other posters. It sounds like your serpentine belt is too loose. This may be due to it being worn and stretched or the tensioner pulley may be defective causing the belt to not have enough pressure put against it to keep it tight around the other pulleys. Most tensioner pullies also have a range indicater stamped into them which shows you whether the belt is past its stretch limit or not.It can be almost impossible to see these markings though because the pulley is so close to the strut tower. If your engine has two or three belts instead of a single belt serpentine system, a adjustment bolt may have come loose, allowing the belt to come loose. The belt should not move more than a inch or so when you push on it. If it has a lot of flex, one of the problems above does exist
