Cars have 1,2,3, D just shift your car into 3 cause D is overdrive. But it's bad on the transmission.
Hi over drives are old technology these days the issue you have is a WORN OUT engine so all you will do is blow up the engine if you try it with a 12 year old engine.
Then just use the next lower shift lever position instead of Drive. The tranny needs to be in Drive for the OD to work.
All hitting the overdrive switch will do is lock you out of the top gear; it has no effect on the remaining ratios.

- How many miles should you have on a new car before driving it on the highway? (60 mph or higher)? I just bought a 2019 Honda Civic LX yesterday and I'm wondering how many miles I should put on it before driving it on the highway. I've heard with new cars you should wait until it has a certain number of miles.
