Do I really need to change fuel filter for my 2004 honda accord?

It reached 127 k miles. The owners manual discuss nothing about replacing it but many mechanics talk about replacing it every 30 k miles. The car runs great. It takes little more gas than before. I didn't change transmission yet. I didn't change drive belt yet. Also I didn't do brake fluid, power steering fluid, or coolant change yet. The only I did are oil& filter, air filter, ac filter and brake pad. I will do all these soon. Do you think it is important to change fuel filter?

Yes… You might be surprised in the difference. Not only gas mileage. But performance.

Yes you do…

every 30k if you live in a place with dirty gas
or up to 90k in a place with clean gas

That'd be a real trick, as it doesn't have a filter, but a mesh strainer in the tank. Maybe you could have one of these other guys change it for you.

Gas filter change is what? $100? Dirty filter just makes the fuel pump work harder and wear out faster. A fuel pump install only runs about $700, so hey, keep ignoring the routine maintenance and think about all the money you're saving---until you're not.
