If it was running I have two ideas. The cheaper one is the igniter / ignition control module. The expensive one is the timing belt. If the timing belt has not been replaced in the last 100K miles I would check that first. Otherwise, check out the prime suspects in the source.
Lack of fuel?
Bad fuel pump
Bad crankshaft sensor
Out of gas?
- I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
- I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?

- 1999 Honda Civic EX died in the road and will not turn over. Thoughts? I was driving to work and the car just stalled out. All I had was forward momentum. It cranks but will not turn over. I was told to pull a spark plug and hold it close to the engine and see if it sparks, and it didn't. From what I've read, The Ignition Control Module should be replaced. But as always I have doubts can anyone offer suggestions or confirm this?
