Honda 2011 Accord making bumping noise today? Is it safe?
I have a Honda 2011 Accord, and just today it was making bumping noises when I was driving. It was most noticeable at low speeds and as I drove on the highway the sound went away, but this is only because the sound gets faster and quicker when the speed is faster as well… It's not a loud noise, but sounds like as if you're constantly driving over a line or small bump in the road. No steering wheel shaking or anything. It was also snowing today and temperature is -2 C if that matters. It went away once I got to work, but worried that it will come back.
Get with your dealer as soon as possible, suspension parts involve, the ball joint may worn out enough and might come loose, lost of steering may result in an accident. I'm not kidding!
Depends on how many miles your car has. You may get the repair under "Good will" (Free of charge or paying part of the cost)
Front suspension noise. Some 2008-12 Accord and 2010-12 Crosstour models may produce a clunking sound from the front end while being driven over rough roads in hot weather.
One likely cause of the noise, says Honda, is the tendency for the grease in the lower ball joint to migrate to the bottom of the joint, especially when hot ambient temperatures are encountered. That creates a slip/stick condition in the ball joint, which is responsible for the clunking noise. Installing new-design lower ball joints (Part No. 51220-TA0-306) should eliminate the condition.
To make the diagnosis, raise the vehicle and allow the suspension to hang freely for a while. That allows the joint to cool and tends to redistribute the grease. Now lower the vehicle and go on a short road test. If the noise is gone, that's your cue that the ball joints are responsible for the ruckus.
Before ordering up a pair of the new ball joints, however, look at the joints that are presently in the car. If they have paint marks on them, the upgraded ball joints are already installed. In that case, replace both of the steering knuckles. Here are the parts specifics for the knuckle assemblies:

Accord (RH) … 51210-TA0-Y60

Look at the TSB # 352628 issued by Honda or you can get in touch with your dealer for more information about the problem. Discuss the noise, the TSB and my answer with the Service Manager and who know he might give you a "good will" on the repair. Good luck to you. HTH

- I drive a 2013 Honda civic is making humming/winding noise? Noise occurs upon acceleration and deceleration. The pitch coincided with the speed of the car. Not necessarily the throttle. Car seems to shift just fine. Slight vibration in the pedals. No jumping or sputtering. It does however seem to come from the front of the car. Any thoughts?
- Honda Civic making weird noise while turning after running over a curb? I have a 2010 honda civic and I ran over a curb the other night and it made a pretty bad sound but nothing was hanging and it drove just fine. But now, 3 days later, its making a weird noise when I turn. Wondering what it could be?
- AC making loud vibration and revolving noise on 2002 honda civic lx? The noise doesn't always happen when the ac is on but it does for most of the time. It happens more loudly than normal and more often than normal whem I've been driving the car a lot that day. What could be making this noise? The compressor? I just replaced front and rear sway bar links, outer passenger tie rod, and exhaust manifold.
