Getting Honda Radio code
Instructions from Honda:

Call Honda USA at 1-800-999-1009 and give them your VIN and serial number for the radio and your registration &/or title (may need to fax it) and they will give you the radio code for free.

Check for a sticker stuck to your glove box either inside or outside which may have the radio serial number on it. Also check under the ash tray and under the fuse box. Look in your owner's manual kit for the actual code card. Or call the dealer where you bought the car. They may have the serial number or code on file. If worse comes to worse you may have to remove the radio to get the serial number off the unit. It is not too difficult to remove. Instructions can be found here: http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Honda/PDF/466053.pdf

Hopefully the information given to you by Honda Servant will work and you won't have to remove the radio. I tried it and it worked for me. Hold in the 1 and 6 preset buttons and then turn on the radio. My display said U1004 and then L0033 and the serial number I found on my radio was in fact 10040033. So it worked for my 2002 CR-V. I understand however that it only works on 2001 and newer vehicles.

I have to call Honda myself on Monday morning to get the code to my 2002 CR-V

1. Look in or on the side of glove box for small sticker with numbers, should be 5 digits with numbers no greater then 6.
2. Pull out the ashtray and see if the sticker is on the back of there.(older models that have them)
3. If you turn off radio and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons then turn radio on it will give you the serial number. They will ask verifying questions. You may have to pull radio from dash and write down radio serial number and call local dealer with that number and they will be able to get the code for you.
4. If you happen to have all the books from the dealer look in the 'HONDA SERVICE HISTORY' book, NOT the owners manual. It should be on the first page in the AUDIO CODE box.

You can go to this site https://radio-navicode.honda.com/ but you will have to prove you own the car. Honda knows if the dealer that you bought it from reported it to them.

Go to dealer with car/ see parts department/ have the registration with you to see if he can obtain the code with the vin number
if not, you must remove the radio,
you can't call on the phone for this #, they must see proof of ownership

It could also be hand written on the radio.

Mine was 21513

  • Radio code for Honda civic 2003 model VIN no 2HES16533H528318? I removed the battery of this car for some repairs. When I fixed the battery back after the repair works the Radio is asking for the code which I don't know, can you help me with this please.
  • Oem radio, help finding code 2002 honda covic lx? I have a 2002 honda civic lx and was gonna replace the battery soon. Is there anyway I can get the code off of the radio unit itself or do I have to find that sticker with the code. I've looked in the glove box, isn't in there. Where else would it be? But is there something I could press on the radio itself to show the code, the radio is function and everything works. Kinda worried when I do change my battery it will have that error code come up. Any help please, thanks.
