Call the DMV in Michigan and ask them how to do this.

The car needs to be titled, registered, and insured where it will be driven. You're breaking the law if you get a Michigan title and insurance but live in Florida.

If you think the FL insurance is high, wait till you move back to MI in June. MI has some of the highest rates in most of the US.

What you are planning on is illegal. You must title the car in your name, get it registered and insured in FL, where you live. When you title and register it, you must have proof of address, and unless mom lies to the DMV and states you live with her in MI, while you are living in FL, is not a good idea.

No matter how much you pay for car insurance, if you get a MI policy, then you will find that your insurance is VOID, in other words, uninsured, if you ever file a claim while living in FL. All policies are state specific and each state has specific regulations they must follow on insurance.

Now, I know what you are thinking that if you put mom's name on the title, the insurance will be her name vs yours. Wrong. Since as the owner and driver, you must be listed as the policyholder and the main driver since most likely will be driving to work and the car will be parked in FL, not in MI. The same will apply when you move back to MI in June, you must have the policy in your name and be listed as the main driver on the policy.

Now there's (only) 1 exception and that is (if) you are a student in FL, and your main address is MI.

You can only title, register, and insure a motor vehicle within the state of your permanent residence. If you are only going to be in Michigan temporarily to attend an institution of higher learning you will what to continue to register and insure the vehicle within the state of Florida. If you do register the vehicle in Michigan you would have to surrender your Florida driver's license. I doubt that is your aim.
