Is 157,986 good gas mileage for a 1997 honda accord? - 1

Added (1). correction the car has been driven 157,986 miles that what the odo says is this good or bad or in between

Awesome!

What does this mean? The 1997 honda accord has been driven 157,986 miles… But there's NO Way of telling what type of mileage it gets.

You need to know HOW MANY MILES the car can go on 1 GALLON of gas. Simply saying the car has gone 157,986 miles doesn't tell us anything, except that the car is old.

Nice job. You must be very tired after pushing the car that many miles.

Your mileage (odometer reading) is on the high side of average for a 10 year old car. The usual ask is related to your engine performance, or MPG, not age of car with number of miles driven. The car usually starts seeing noticeable body cancer about now, and will generally crumble before the engine and transmission wears out in another 100,000 - 150,000 miles. The noticeable problems start inside the doors, at the bottom, but also affecting windows and door locks; rust around the trunk and wheel wells, fender skirts.

Honda engineers the best engines in the business. The the Accord has been fully and properly serviced and maintained it potentially could last another 150k miles. If are considering purchasing such a Honda only do so if the seller can show you proof of all service and maintenance receipts.

  • Poor gas mileage on my 97 honda prelude? For some reason i've been getting pretty bad gas mileage on my 5th gen 1997 prelude. I bought the car about 3 months ago and i've noticed i waste way too much gas i really don't know what it could be i've been told to check the o2 sensor but i don't know how to do that or what to even check for, any help will really be appreciated
  • Honda Fit Gas Mileage problem? I hope some guys on here can help. I bought a 2013 Honda fit automatic which only had 11k miles on it. The car guzzles gas like there's no tomorrow. Tried fuel injection treatment, tire pressures good. No gas tank leaks. What could be going on?
  • Which mini SUV is better for gas mileage and longevity? I have been looking at mini SUV's/crossovers and have narrowed down my choices to these 3: Nissan Rogue, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester. Keep in mind that I'm not buying a brand new one from the year 2014 or 2013. I'm looking at the years 2010 - 2012. So which is the overall better choice?
  • Why does my car get unusually good gas mileage than normal? It's a 98 Honda Civic. I do 2 hours of Combined city and highway driving for 5-6 days a week. I kinda have a heavy foot, the rims are 1" bigger than stock and the car is due for it's next tune up this coming Monday. The car is rated at 28mpg combined when it was shiny back in 1998, and when I calculated mine i got 32 mpg combined, my calculation isn't wrong either as i have an mpg calculator
