Is a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S or a 2008 Honda Accord LX-P more reliable?
I'm planning on purchasing either a used 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S with 73,000 miles or a used 2008 Honda Accord LX-P with 75,000 miles. Both cars are the same price with clean history and maintenance reports. I have read some reviews stating that the 2008 Accords have brake issues. Is this true, and does anyone know of any other common issues with either of these two cars? As I'm about to let go of a car that has been a money pit, my only concern is purchasing the more reliable vehicle. Which of these two vehicles would be the wiser purchase?
What you're hoping for, of course, is a statement that Car X is 5 percent less likely to have problems than Car Y, and that this means something statistically. As a practical matter, once the car's out of the showroom, individual condition means more than a whole box full of anecdotal reports. If you're wise, you'll have them both inspected by a trusted mechanic, and then follow his advice.
