Is it bad to floor a cold engine?

I have a 4 cyl honda accord and i live right off a very very busy highway. I usually start my car, turn the heat and radio on, back out of my driveway, and i almost always have to almost floor it to get up to speed since i'm backing out of my driveway into traffic. I'm wondering if this is hard on the car. If so how bad is it?

At least let the motor build up oil pressure for a minute or two before taking off to protect the bearings 1st thing in the morning! I hope you're changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles if you are that concerned about keeping your motor lasting longer. That's the most important thing! Don't wait for the oil to turn black or let the oil level drop more than half way between the upper and lower dipstick lines. Your Honda is nearly bulletproof. You have good clean oil in your crank case? Are your gradually accelerating to get up to speed? If so, you are golden. If you have good tires, clean filters, etc., accelerate away. Easy as traffic allows, of course. Reverse into your driveway. That way you can exit into the main road legally and more easily. An engine needs to work to get up to temperature to become efficient. Never allow an engine to idle to warm up. -The only time an engine should idle is after a run and needs to heat soak before turning off the ignition.
You are okay doing what you do now. It is not good for a cold engine to rev too hard. Hi It might be best to start it and let the oil circulate around the engine before going to fast. YES YES YES YES YES YES.IT takes TIME for thr erngine bearings and othrr components to STRETCH and SHRINK toe gt to operating tmperatures. A COLD ENGINE< especially ith CHEAPO OIL< will have the LEAST lubrication. IT takes SMALL time for oil to get to vital engienparts. ONLY CERTAIN SYNTETIC oils re worth using, but All cars should b jhusing SYNTHETIC OIL now. Like JET Lubrication, modern SYNTH oils PREVENT sensor and WAX/ VARNISH issues over time. MODERN engines are MADE to START and driv INSTANTLY< but to PUSH it when VOLD< o until engien temperatures arer reached, is RISKY. BEARING can SPIN easiest, and TIMING BELTS can snap. Even TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS and other belted items can get UNHAPPY until fully wmed up. Same for ALTERNATORS and steerring systems

  • Why is my clutch pedal staying on the floor and doesn't spring back up? I have a 92 Honda Prelude Si and I just changed the clutch on it. But now my clutch pedal has no pressure, I'll press the pedal and the pedal will stay down but won't spring back up at all. I already changed the Slave Cylinder. What's going on?

  • I dropped my transmission on the floor? My transmission was inside. I picked it up to bring outside and fell from my hands on the tile floor in my house. It fell maybe a foot and a half high. Not high. And fell on to tile. I wanna know if I should have any problems. I didn't hear anything break or see any cracks. How durable are transmissions. 99 Honda Civic si
