Hi 'So cars wear out like any consumer product. The modern car is designed to have a 8 year life. Beyond this it is just luck. So when a 2001 which is now 14 years old wear is the reason why it ceases to function like it used to. Throwing money at it will extend it's life slightly however the inevitable day will come when it needs to be scrapped.
Yes, there's. Hopefully it's just a fluid issue but there may be more to it than that, I'm afraid.
If the tach jumps up at a stop and the car doesn't move you have a slipping tranny and it's junk. Keep driving it and you'll be spending a good $150 on a tow truck.
- Which trucks are the most reliable or easiest to fix if something goes wrong? I'm searching for a pick up truck thats reliable. I know everyone has their preference. I'm searching between a ranger s10 z71 f150 and gmc mid sized trucks. Any other suggestions would be great. I know some cars like honda are very easy to fix and i'm just wanting a truck that I can easily fix if something goes wrong.
- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
- Buying my first car and want to choose the right car I need something with a lot of room and thats safe? I've been looking at the honda crv, kia sorento, chevy traverse/equinox, acura mdx/rdx, nissan maxima and buick enclave. I really want something thats going to last atleast (6-8) years without having to replace the transmission or engine I want something very reliable and i'm willing to pay more for something that will last than having to replace major parts in a short time thanks for your help!
- Guy who changed my oil did something? I have a 2011 Honda Civic LX, I went to the honda dealership where I got the car for a routine servicing: they did everything. I got the car back when I got home I noticed the part on the dashboard that tells me how many miles are on the car didn't have the milage, but it says "oil life 100%" how do I change it back so that I can see the mileage on the car? It's no big not I just like to know what my miles are, last I seen it was at 45,000
