Is the timing belt for a 2005 honda accord 2 Dr coupe internal or external? - 1

The belt is internal behind a cover. If your 2005 is a 4 cylinder then it does not have a timing belt it has a chain that should last the life of the engine. If it is a V6 then it has a belt that MUST be changed every 105,000 miles along with the water pump.

I've never heard of an external timing belt. They're normally always inside a timing cover for protection from the elements. Watch some YouTube videos for your car model to see it first hand!

Timing belts on all modern motor vehicles are internal. Period.

MMM. Define the terms. They are external to the internal workings of the engine but under a cover. Not like a timing chain

Timing belts are always under the plastic timing belt cover behind the drive belts. I hope you're not thinking of replacing it yourself! Watch a youtube video which will show you the timing belt and components.

The timing belt is external of the engine. It's got a removable plastic cover. Do not attempt to change the timing belt, unless you have got a torque wrench, cam lock kit, and timing kit. You will also need a special socket type tool to hold the crankshaft pulley still. The crankshaft bolt is very tight 183ft/lbs
