Is this car a good buy with high mileage?

It's a 2005 Honda Accord ex coupe with 150,000 for $5000 in nice shape is it OK to buy it or should I avoid it because of the mileage?

Is it a private sale? Have you taken it to your garage for inspection? Is there a log included with info
regarding all maintenance performed? Have you done a Carfax search for recorded accidents using
the VIN number? These are the things people do that don't want to be scammed.

Its a tough call.

Even assuming its in good shape and a mechanic gives it 2 thumbs up, its still a risk.

That's why its $5000 and not $20,000+.

A motor or transmission goes out and you're looking at $3000+ to fix.

Is it adult owned? As in hiway/commute mileage? Honestly it isn't really that high mileage, in fact just over average for its age.
you don't want one thats been beat on. They just arent made for that. Lots of people believe honda civics are performance cars, but reality is they are econoboxes. I came across a civic recently that had less than 130,000 and the poor lil ivtec was beat to death, and the car was completely trashed. 2 holes in the block, trans was junked, suspension was junked, the car was junk when it should have had another 120,000 easy left in it.
hell i just got a 97 caravan in the salvage yard with 372,000 miles. The engine just finally let go. If you can make a dodge van go that far by taking real care of it, think of how far a small light well cared for car can go. Just tore down a toyota that had 270,000 on it and threw a rod. If you could stop up the hole, i don't doubt the darn engine would have went another 100,000 on 3 cylinders.
