Which manual transmission should I use?
I drive an 04 Honda Accord 5 speed with 212,000 miles. What difference will it make if I use an oil other than Honda gear oil. Some people on various Honda forums recommend Amsoil or Synchromesh or others. I just replaced it yesterday with Pennzoil Synchromesh, but my mechanic expressed concern about this. What is your experience, and what do you recommend?
It shouldn't make any difference it is was the correct weight and type of oil recommended. (ex SVG, AGL, SVO, FGR, FGO) - it should be specified in the owners manual. Last time I changes a manual trans oil was in a 1982 Civic - it used 10w-30 I believe.
Yes

- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle

- If in the owners manual it says I should use 5W-20 motor oil, can I use 10W-40 motor oil instead? I have a 2009 Honda Fit. I just recently bought 10W-40 and when I got home to put oil in the manual said 5W-20. What's the difference? And is it okay if I still use the 10W-40?
