My accord only starts in neutral?

What are possible problems

2000 honda accord v6 coupe
Replaced starter brake light switch battery and altenators good

Car doesn't start in park but if i put in neutral it starts right up.

I talked to mechanic he thinks neutral safety switch i can't find a installation diagram anywhere online.
Does anybody have one?

There's a safety switch on the side of the transmission. You'll need to either have it replaced or adjusted. It allows the car to start in either neutral or park and their are two settings for it. One is either out of allignment or broken.

There's also a cable that runs from the transmission to the selector which could be the issue, but probably not. Finally, it could also be the selector arm isn't going far enough into park.

It sounds like the lock out switch is bad. It is only allowing the car to start in neutral and not in park too.

I'm trying to find a solution, car will only start in neutral

  • Punctured tire replacement - can I replace only 1 tire - is it safe to replace the PUNCTURED tire only? My 2005 Honda Pilot rear left tire was punctured near the threshhold (ie - sidewall), but still usable. Thus the tire dealer patched it only. Should I replace that punctured tire only? Or should I replace the 2 tires on the same axle? Or even buy a whole set of 4 tires? I'm concerned about safety, and thus your best advice is very appreciated.
  • My 2008 Honda Rebel will not go in neutral? I have a 2008 Honda Rebel that will not go in neutral while its running. It will only go into neutral if I shut it off. I took it to the local shop and they adjusted the clutch cable and gear lever with no success.
  • My cbr 125 feels very sluggish and starts twitching on mid range, starts exactly on 6k and stops on 7k? Before 6k and after 7k the acceleration is good and quick, before i had problems where the engine would just cut out when hot so i changed the ignition coil with original honda one but this problem is still there, i just don't know where the problem could be, the carb has been all cleaned and a bigger jet to match the new exhoust was fitted…
  • What is the cause of 2nd gear popping back into neutral? I own a 1997 Honda Civic Ex (coupe) SOHC VTEC that has been having this issue with the manual transmission where 1st gear chugs and 2nd gear pops out back into neutral causing the gear to grind pretty hard. I've come across many forums all giving different reasons to why this happens. I'd like to get a more definitive answer (if possible) from anyone who has had issues like/or similar to this, any mechanics out there willing to send some wisdom and tips my way is greatly appreciated.
