Should i buy a 2006 Honda Accord?
I'm thinking about getting a 2006 Honda Accord, everything looks great about it the only problem is that it had 272000 miles on it. I've heard of Accords lasting too about 400,000 miles should i risk it and purchase it?
Added (1). Also its from a dealership retail price is 3900 but he says he would sell it to me for 2900
Unless you can buy this car well below the NADA value I would not touch it. Even if the engine & transmission are fine, the suspension is bound to be worn out. Ball joints, steering rack, struts, cooling system, have to be in bad shape. The exhaust system would also be questionable. Wheel bearings, brake rotors and calibers could also need work. If it is running perfectly and passes a compression test then it may be worth the risk if you can get it very cheap. Whomever owns this car is going to have a hard time selling it. Look up the value in the link I will post and offer the seller the rough trade in value. If they take it then you can afford to spend some money on the car. Just make darn sure the engine and transmission are in good shape. IMO, $3,000 is all I would pay for this car with this many miles. Remember you have the upper hand as this car will be very hard to sell with this many miles on the odometer even if it is a Honda.

270k is as lot of miles. Yes some do more, and some don't
Problem with a high mileage older car is all the little things that start going wrong. Electrical issues, engine sensors, brakes, suspension. Each one alone is minor, but with a modern car there are so many parts that can fail, and they are all getting old and unreliable.
If it's cheap enough you can take the chance. You might get lucky and have it run for years with only minor problems. If it does cause problems, well at least you aren't out a lot of $$.
Depends on the price, I honestly wouldn't get it, it has far too many miles on it. You have to consider that, yes, although it has 272,000 miles on it, and yes it is running, a car with that much mileage is bound to have some serious issues creeping up in the inside of it; from transmission to piston rings, just beware.
No. Sure you hear of the odd one doing 400k, any car can do that if you plough enough money into it. Every single thing in the car is way past it's designed service life and it could be a money pit. Realistically a car with that mileage on it is worth peanuts. Don't be swayed by the fact that it is a 2006 instead of say a 2002.
- Which is better Honda civic 2006 or vw Passat 2006? I'm getting a car soon and I can't decide which one. Which has better reputation, safety, which will last me longer? They're both in good shape. About 130,000 miles on both.
- Should i buy this 2006 Honda civic Si? It is blue, with 123,000 miles. Exterior is in good co edition, front bumper is missing a little paint I'm guessing from rocks Inside the shift knob is pretty scratched up. Haven't gone to see it yet, but if all goes well and it shifts good and doesn't need anything done to it… Should I give him his asking price? He wants $7500 I need something reliable and good on gas to drive to school.
- Should i buy a 2013 honda civic si (sedan), or a 2006 acura rsx type s? I love both cars? I'm on the buying one of these 2 but i don't know which one i should buy. i feel like ill be paying around the same with car payments/insurance combined. si= higher car payments, lower insurance Rsx= lower car payments, higher insurance
- Should I buy this Honda Accord? It's a 2004 Honda accord with 200k on the body. They engine was replaced at 190k and the seller has the documents to prove that the work was done. The clutch was also replaced at the same time. He says he has always been up to date with oil changes and repairs. I'm 17 and just got my license so it's only for a first car. He is asking 3,000 but I got it down to 2,700. Should I purchase this car?
