Tires are cupped. Bad struts or bad alignment?
Brought my Honda Accord 6 months ago. Passenger side rear wheel had hit a curb(before I brought it) and blew the strut.
The cheap dealer only replaced the passenger side rear strut to "make things right". 6 months later(now) I'm looking at my tires and I'm noticing minor cupping on the inside edge of the DRIVER side rear wheel(side with original strut that wasn't replaced).
I read that it could possibly be alignment that is causing the cupping, or it could be the strut. How do I find out for sure if it's alignment and not strut/vise versa?
Tires are Yokohama Avid Envigors. Car has 45,000 miles. I don't notice any major toe/camber issues with the wheels.
Cupping is usually caused by bad strut. But it can also be caused by tire/wheel imbalance. Struts have a useful life of 50,000-80,000 miles depending on road conditions. Sounds like yours was abused. Read this post on struts
Something is bent yet. If it's just an adjustment both rear tires would be worn. An alignment machine will point out what's bent to a good alignment guy.
- What is this sound coming from under the truck brand new 2018 honda ridgeline after I did the wheel alignment? When I back up It has that quick initial metal stretching sound and I only noticed it after the alignment was done. What is it and how should I fix this?
- What are the front tire alignment specs for Honda Trx300ex 2007? My steering is leaning to the left on my atv and I'm having problems finding the specs on front end alignment if anyone can find or knows the specs please tell me!
- Purchase dropped Honda Ruckus? Front wheel alignment is slightly off? I'm looking to purchase a Honda ruckus. I found a used one that was dropped several times. The steering alignment is off so you have to turn the handlebars slightly to the side to go straight. There's no damage to the body but I'm wondering if this is something that can easily be repaired or should I stay away. Overall it runs well and has a little over 4K miles.
- Motorcycle front wheel alignment? I've been having trouble aligning my front motorcycle wheel (Honda Xr 125 L-5) I released the bottom clamp bolts and straddled the wheel until it's aligned with the mud guard and then when i tighten the forks to the manufacturers torque the wheel goes out of align again! Any ideas?
