What is the difference between ultra high performance and grand touring tires?
I have a 2005 honda accord coupe ex 4cyl. I understand my car is not a racing car and I don't plan on using it.
I'm looking for a set of all season tires. I'm currently living in michigan and would like tires that have the least hydroplaning in snow/rain, but at the same time would like to use them year round. I'm trying to decide between Pirelli Cinturato P7 plus or the Dunlop Signature HP
Added (1). On tirerack.com they have different options for all season tires. There's ultra high performance all season and then grand touring all season. The websites doesn't do the greatest job in differentiating the different types. If anyone can explain the difference between these two types that would be awesome! I don't care about price, but I also don't want to buy separate snow tires.

In general, the biggest differences will be in maximum cornering grip and ride quality. Noise level while cruising may also be significantly different.
The grand touring tire will likely be queter while cruising due to a less aggressive tread pattern. It will also likely ride softer due to less stiff sidewalls. The trade-off is that it will likely also have lower lateral grip limits so you won't be able to corner quite as quickly with them as compared to the ultra high performance tire.
As for rain or light snow performance, I wouldn't expect a big difference between the two if both are all-season tires. Neither will be as good in snow as a designated snow tire, but neither of them should be patently awful in the snow either, at least not as bad as a summer tire would be for example. Its pretty simple. The higher the performance the stickier the tire for grip and handling. But they wear out a lot faster and cost more money. Most, like me, go to the Salvage Yard and get rims and then install good snows like Bridgestone Blizzak for the winter. NO non-snow tires are good in the snow. The laws of physics don't allow it… Sorry.
