What is the expected price to repair a head gasket?

I have a 2005 Honda Accord. I need to know how much it would likely cost as money is kinda tight.

Get three estimates. Guesses here will be unhelpful. Suffice to say it won't be cheap. Unless you DIY.

Get a manual and a torque-wrench. Do it all yourself.

You FAIL to state whether it's a FOUR or SIX cylinder. The cost will ll be very different, as it's almost twice as much labor for the six and harder to get to the bolts. Nor do you say HOW you "know" it's the head gasket, or WHY the gasket failed so early. Did some chump down the street "diagnose" it, or was it at a mechanic or the dealership -- or are you just making an ignorant guess? There's probably other damage if it severely overheated - it could even need a new block and/or head(s). In short, there are FAR too many variables to even guess. The heads are going to have to be removed for an accurate estimate. Bottom line - if that is the issue, it's going to cost more than you can afford ($2,000 to $6,000), and probably more than the car is worth.
