What kind of a car should I buy?

What kind of a car should I buy?

Added (1). Hi!

I'm basically currently trying to sell my first car, 98 Chevy Cavalier that I've had for three years
since I've been 16 and I'm about to turn 19!

Anyways, for my second car, I want a manual, something fun(powerful) to drive,
something that's fun to customize(subs, turbo, interior/exterior additions, etc…),
good on gas(somewhere between 30-40 MPG!), and I want a car that looks like an 87 honda accord
but anything is good! I'm also interested in hatchbacks and stuff.

Added (2). Oh and I'm looking to spend no more than 2500 on the car (initially).

Performance OR Economy… Pick one.

On that budget get a sporty 2 door Honda or Toyota. Fit a sensible sound system, good tires, replace the old shocks etc. You won't look like a knob, you are just driving a sensible but sporty car.

Seriously, 2500 is in the cheap car range. You might spend 10X that customising a car, and recover exactly nothing when you sell sell it. Buy something cheap, practical and reliable. Drive it around and save you $$ for a decent car.

Buying a $2K car and spending $20K on it, leaves you with a $2K car

Drive the $2K car, and save your $$ for something decent.

Edit, I have a 275 hp JDM Toyota hatchback. You won't get over 30 mpg with that level of performance.

Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic
Mazda 3
Toyota Camry
Honda Accord

Good on gas will be like a Honda Civic hatch, you'll get your 30+ mpg easy. And you know that amount of customization for this car is endless.
Love that 87 Accord, that was my first car I bought with my own paycheck. Accords though gets less than 30 mpg, but they last like forever when take good care off.
Similar cars would be like 86 Corolla GTS (Trueno), or 85 Celica or Celica Supra.

I've been in your shoes in the past i myslef got a 91 camaro whit a camd 350 and full exhaust on It on your budget Its hard to fine a good running fast car i also lookt at 300gt vr4s but kodent afford it u kod also look in to fox body mustang or mx 5

For 2500 the only vehicles you will find are high mileage vehicles needing repairs just to be road worthy, not to mention all of the other costs like insurance, licensing, maintenance, etc etc

Buy another Chevy, best cars made.

Sounds like you want an 87 Accord.1985-89 all looked similar. The Accord was available with a 160 HP B-20 engine in Japan, be nice to get a JDM front half to swap in.

  • What kind of car should i buy? All i have is 2800$ i need a car that will last me a couple years. I was thinking of buying a honda, how many milles is to much? How much is a good deal? Appreciate any input
  • What kind of car should I get? I'm looking at afew cars that i would like to have when i finish high school i'm a freshman. I had the idea of saving up some money so when i'm a softmore or something I can ditch my moms car and buy my own car. I'm thinking a 2005 s2000, Scion FR-S, Honda Civic (2015) or an 96 integra somewhere along thoes lines… I just need to know what yall think about these cars or car options you may have to give to me.
  • What kind of car should I buy my college-age son? I was reading an article that the Honda Civic and Buick LeSabre would great for kids going to school. But I was talking to our neighbor and she bought her son an old BMW, like 2011, and her son didn't talk to her for weeks. I want my kid to have a good time at college and not be embarrassed, but the article said these two cars were really good for teenagers. I was kinda iffy when I read about the Honda and then they said the Buick, so this may be made up or something.
  • Should i buy an oem honda part or is it worth the risk to buy aftermarket? I need a vehicle speed sensor for my 94 accord and i noticed aftermarket prices for this part are much cheaper but is it worth the risk or should I buy the "dorman" part?
