What potential price range of repair costs am I looking at for an overheated broke-down 1992 Honda Accord EX?

I just bought this yesterday. Really bad luck. Took it to Jiffy Lube and they filled the antifreeze and replaced the oil and everything. The car looked well maintained. Well, I think possibly Jiffy Lube didn't screw something on tight or something, because all the antifreeze leaked out and it overheated.

So my question is - what possible damage could have happened with a serious overheating coming off the freeway? It was smoking a bit. Seemed all from a hot radiator. I hope it's nothing big.

Any idea of a rough ball park estimate price range and any potential damages would be appreciated. Luckily I got road side assistance so I got it towed to the Honda mechanic but won't find anything out for a couple days.

In order to loose antifreeze you either have a leak, which could be seen, or a blown head gasket. The first thing the mechanic should do is check the oil and if it's milky colored that's due to antifreeze in the oil due to a blown head gasket. If the oil is okay then he'll check for a leak.

What do you mean they "filled the antifreeze"? That they topped it off or did a flush and fill? Did you ask them to do that? Or just change the oil.

A cracked hose will be a simple fix, and not very expensive. A clogged radiator will cost a fair bit more. A bad water pump will cost a bit more. Warped head from overheating, a few thousand for a proper engine rebuild.
