What's wrong with my transmission?

Ok so I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 and this morning I started noticing something wrong with my transmission because the D4 was flashing. Normally when I drive from a complete stop it shifts normally and shifts twice to get to about 42 mph. But today it shifted from 1st gear at a high RPM and when I tried to get it to shift into second gear it wouldn't shift to second. And normally when I'm driving at 55 mph and I put my car in cruise control the RPM stats at about 1600-1800RPM. But when I did it today it stayed at 3,000 RPM. I have an automatic transmission. Can anybody tell me what's wrong?

It means you need to take it in and have it looked at. It seems you are having tranny issue. And be prepared to fork out some big dough. Tranny works are not cheap.

First thing is check your transmission fluid. Google for pictures to find where it's at.

If it looks low, add to the "full" line but don't go beyond that. More is not better.

Also, check under the car for signs of fluid leaking. If you see signs of leaking, take it to a mechanic. If you continue to drive it while leaking and damage it, it will cost you about 1k to replace.

Christ, you're welcome.

Flashing means a code in the system. Find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help. Honda's have problems with transmissions from 98-07. This could be something as simple as a bad solenoid. The shop will let you know what's wrong and a estimate to repair

Probably a shift solenoid. You need to either take it to the dealer or a good transmission shop so they can plug in their code reader.
