Why do older Hondas rarely have factory stereos?

Whenever I see Hondas for sale online (mostly pre 2000 Accords and Civics), about 75% of them have aftermarket stereos. I thought Honda was well-known for having decent factory stereos, so I don't understand why the stereos are replaced. Is it for parts? Are the stereos bad after all?

Most "pre-2000" models came from the factory with AM/FM/Cassette stereos, which were OK for the times, but nothing to write home about. If you wanted to play music CD's in your car, you had to go to an aftermarket system.

I think that is more a 'comment' on who buys the car & what is important to them.

Probably had factory cassette players in those days.

CD / MP3 players with fancy blue lights, USB and Aux inputs are cheap enough these days, so most people upgrade to them.

Probably came with just a radio

Its the easiest and cheapest upgrade that almost anybody can do.
Anyway how did you came up with 75%, did you check them all?
