Why my car does not stay on?
I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX 2.2l non VTec, the car starts fine but in an instant the car suddenly goes off, I have already replaced ignition control module, distributor seal and distributor cap. Before all that was replaced I took the car to auto zone for a check engine light diagnostic, it gave me speed sensor, MAP sensor and oxygen sensor.
Sounds like the classic Accord bad ignition switch, there was a recall for these. Try starting it and then slightly holding it toward "start" or wiggling the key back a bit but still at either end of the "run" position. If it keeps running it's a bad switch. Most you can unscrew from the back of the cylinder and change with a new harness.
Failing that, the codes could be real and you will need diagnose to those. A bad MAP could easily cause your problem but that's not a common failure.
You have already spent lots of money throwing parts at the problem and you still have the problem. It is time you take the car to a professional with the equipment and knowledge to actually repair the car.
Why don't you replace the sensors that the diagnostic spat out…
- Not used to my newfangled Honda, why does it do this? I've always owned manual transmission cars and just recently due to age and some other factors traded my last one in for a Honda. It's automatic obviously. My eyes still automatically look at the tach all the time though and I've noticed that when I go to pass someone on the freeway, it will rev up to about 2500rpms and then go back down. As if it is downshifting. Why does it do this?
- If one or two ISP's ban a site and raise prices, can a new one rise up and compete? Why? Why not? What about Honda/Toyota? Or ' MCI & Sprint muscling AT&T aside? Anyone remember Nucor Steel? Each of those took advantage of very different situations, each with seemingly impossible odds. Thing is, they were all LEGALLY allowed to compete. How about here?
- Should I buy a brand new honda civic? Why or why not? I need a new car that is inexpensive, has full warranty, is reliable and I feel that's the best fit.
- Does the fuel pump on a 1994 Honda Shados stay going, or is it only to prime the carbs when starting? My Honda Blackbird is also carbureted with no fuel pump, therefore I don't see why it'd be necessary for a classic style V-twin. Is it on all the time while the engine is running, or is it just used in tandem with the starter?
