Why Toyota Corolla brakes are so expensive?
I need to replace the front brakes of my wife s 05 corolla. Since I usually go online and purchase the genuine manufacture parts, I did the same this time. I found the price is $75/pair for the pads, and $55/ea for the rotor. I changed the brakes on my Accord V6 last year, its about $45/pair for the pads. Why Toyota parts are so expensive comparing with Honda?
Supply and demand
Just buy generic parts at your local auto hardware shop
I been buying generic for years and never had a issue
PS: I abuse my brakes all the time thats why generic is more economical for me
Profit margin is the primary reason - what Jin says - never have I bought manufacturer brake pads or rotors. (even so you are saving a small fortune by doing it yourself).
That's not a terrible price if its quality stuff.
Just get them and put them on, your saving a lot of money doing them yourself.
I went on line to Pep Boys and got them for about $27 and did it myself
You need to do your own research and prove to the mechanic that you know how much the parts are. Toyota parts are cheap because they break down quite easily depending on the quality and how its used

- What is better a 2014 Honda Civic or 2014 Toyota Corolla? I'm looking at these cars in terms of price and more "bang for your buck." Both seem interesting to me and I have yet to test drive them. The Honda Civic seems like it is the better car based on reviews but the newly redesigned Toyota Corolla looks better than previous versions and is slightly cheaper than the Civic. Which one should I consider looking towards? Please do not mention any other car, I'm only focused on these two at the moment.
