Would you buy a 1998 Honda Accord that has 230k miles on it for $1000?
I have no idea about cars, but I need one As soon as possible. What do you guys think? All I know is the car has stains on it and the front mirror is cracked. I have no idea if there's anything wrong with the engine and stuff. I plan on taking it to the mechanics
Yeah that a good steal if i were you i would take the offer even though its an old car its better than nothing
You want to buy a car that has the least amount of miles on it. 230k is A LOT of miles. Don't do it. It may be cheap but that's why. I wouldn't buy anything over 150k. Even that's pushing it. But I get being on a budget. And I'll tell you why: the more miles a car has the sooner the engine will expire. Once the engine stops working the car is useless. Especially if you want to buy a car that old. Buying an engine is around the same price as a new car. Not worth it.
No chance
1) it is 17 years old
2) in those 17 years it had driven 230,000 miles (average mileage a year is 7,900. So over 17 years the car should have done roughly 134,000 - nearly an extra 100,000 on the clock.
3) £1,000 is too much to ask for something this old and this driven.
I would haggle with the guy selling it, he is obviously wanting rid of it and you need a wee run about As soon as possible
Take it to a mechanic to get it checked out BEFORE buying it - if seller refuses, walk away
500 at most. That way, if it does break, you can open an account on ebay and sell parts.
Rather high miles and rather old. Definitely have it checked out. Offer $700 for it too.
No, if you don't know about cars it will not be worth it. You will just rack up a huge bill at the mechanic's. Not to mention it sounds like the car was pretty abused and will likely have more problems. It's one thing to buy a car with +200K miles if it was taken car of and it's another to buy it if it wasn't.
No. Too old and too many miles.
- What would you do if a lady around 30-37 told you that you were useless and would never amount to anything? She's a well dressed white lady with a brand new Honda SUV and she has a daughter that looks about 12 that is also well dressed and the girl is being rude and both are being very rude to the guy at the counter at Subway. Would it be wrong to curse out the old witch who tried to start a fight and cursed out the subway worker and you?
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
- Would v6 Honda Accord 1998 front bumper fit on a 4 cylinder Honda Accord 1998? I have a 1998 4 cylinder honda accord. If i purchase a 6 cylinder bumper would it fit? i'm trying to purchase this one. http://www.amazon.com/..._pC_nS_ttl
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
