Any first car recommendations besides Honda and Toyota?
I was thinking BMW might be my only recommended choice because my cousins are mechanics, car mechanics and i'm close with them with friendships. Well, I'm planning on getting a car from them, and they mostly work with BMWs, just because they say they are good cars. They even recommended I drive BMWs, but to be honest, that is a good choice because insurance is cheap on BMWs, and they have told me a lot of good stuff about BMW, but I'm kind of dazing off and looking into other cars. I don't know what to get. I'm thinking about BMW, at the same time, I'm looking into other cars such a Kia, Volvo and some other cars I can think of.
My mechanic friends are willing to sell me a BMW for a cheaper price because I used to work with them as a Co-op student, when I went to learn about mechanics, I worked with them. So, I know they will recommend me BMWs. Its not like they will push me, they will be like get any car you want but if you want us to recommend you, from experience I say get a BMW. I see BMW is a reliable car, because every tme I go out with one of my cousins, I'm always getting around with him in his BMWs.
Any ideas?
So you have experience working on BMWs and car mechanics and you're asking random people on Y/A? Sounds like you probably know more about BMWs than most people…
Where did you hear insurance is cheaper on BMWs? That's probably only on old models that will be totaled if anything major happens to them. For instance, almost all 90's BMWs are worth $1500-2000 now but maintenance and parts on them being German luxury cars is still high. So if you get in a major collision with a 1997 BMW 740i; the cost in body work, parts, and labor would be 5-10X what it's worth. So knowing that they're only liable for $2000 of the vehicle along with the usual coverage, the insurance companies probably won't charge a lot. On a newer BMW I'm sure the insurance would be up there.
If you can get a special deal from your mechanic friends for a well maintained one, I'd say go for it.
- Paint job help and recommendations needed? I don't know what happened? I went to a friends house to hang out and this was last night. There house was gated so I had to dial in so I could get through. I was trying not to scrape my car against the security box, but somehow I did. The only area of the car that has been affected was the drivers side back door. I drive a 2004 Honda Element ex. I live in maple valley Washington and looking for a cheap paint job.
- Replacement back rim and spokes for my 2007 Honda CRF450x Dirt bike. And recommendations? Every time I drive 20 feet the spokes get loose and my back wheel gets wobbly. I need a new rim ad spokes looking for good sites… Would prefer to buy the rim and spoke all together and not have to pay someone to respoke it.
