1985 honda civic won't start?

Engine cranks, no spark to plugs. Replaced igniter, distributor cap, spark plugs, new spark plug wires, ignition coil. Still no spark to plugs. Don't think timing belt is broken, as it doesn't crank faster than normal. What do I check next? Car doesn't have crank shaft position or cam shaft position sensor. Could my ignition timing be off? Any help greatly appreciated.

Does the distributor rotor turn with the motor? Take off the cap and crank it.

Or look in the oil cap opening to see if the rocker arms are moving.

Why are you throwing all those parts at the car when you don't even know what the problem is? If there's power going to the distributor it may be a bad distributor module or a bad ECU

  • My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?

  • Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
  • I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
