2000 Honda Civic Input Shaft Bearing noise?

When the car is idle I can hear the noise and when the clutch is depressed I notice the noise go away. Now I'm no mechanic but the symptoms point to a bad input shaft bearing, according to what I've read online. However, a lot of the bad ISB noises are described as "whirring" and metal banging against each other, but in my car it sounds like a squeak. Almost like a squeaky hamster wheel and it isn't too terribly loud but it is noticeable. So is it the ISB or can it be something else?

It sounds more like a bad throughout bearing, with the input shaft bearing the sound would stop only when you fully depress the clutch. If the sound goes away as soon as you put light pressure on the clutch (not depressed all of the way), it's the throwout bearing because the input shaft is still spinning.

Hi so as this sounds like the same question as above what do you expect from a 14 year old car it is very worn and no wonder it makes noises. If it didn't it would not have covered the miles it has. Wear and abuse have caused most of these noises. Motoring is expensive facts of life it is always going to cost money and keep costing money the older it gets as parts fail.
