El camino vs Honda Civic? First car?

Everyone at my high school either has a Honda civic or a Toyota corolla or a Prius. I like the way El Caminos look and I think God is trying to tell me something because, whenever I'm on the streets I randomly see El Caminos. It'd be cool because then when I turn 16 in 1 and a half years if my mom wanted to go to Ikea and buy a couch I could put it in the back of the El Camino or if I had a friend who could drive I'd go to an empty parking lot and ride in the back like I see people do in other pick up trucks.

God also likes to kill people in automobile accidents and give them cancer.

Logically the civic would be a nice sporty choice. The elcamino probably would have valve problems at about 100000 miles. Its classic detroit metal that really wasn't engineered to go very far. Mexicans like them for the ranching purpose, but overall they are just a junky body-on-frame vehicle. Heavy, slow, inefficient and un-reliable.

Their price range was around $10k so we've been looking at quite a few used cars, but none have really been that great. Today we found a used 2012 Honda Civic Coupe EX for $14.5k. It even has navigation and a sunroof. Do you think it's a good deal? And do you think it would be a good first car? Any help is really appreciated, thank you. Also the mileage on the car is 35k.
