How to fix my trunk/fuel tank lever in my 09 Honda Civic?
The lever was getting a bit sticky for a while now and just yesterday it went loose when I pulled it to open my trunk. Now it will not operate both the trunk or fuel door release.
I have already removed the material in my trunk to access the fuel door release cable manually for now. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good temporary fix to close the trunk. There isn't much in there to attach a wire to in order to keep it closed.
Also can anyone give me a link or instructions to fix the lever permanently so that it works again. I don't think the cables are broken inside but I could be wrong. I'm not sure what the best way is to open up the lever assembly to take a look.
You need to see why it doesn't work. First thing would be to remove the plastic cover to the levers and see if they have the cables attached to them. If they are you need to remove the drivers side and rear panels to access the release latches and see if they're attached. Get someone to pull the levers while you look at the release latches. If they don't move the cables are broken. But just the wire should move, if the whole thing moves it won't work. You need to hold the cable cover.
I've had thirty year old Hondas that this still worked. Are they losing it? Geo is right on by the way.

- How to fix a sticky brake lever? I have a 2000 Honda XR100r with drum in front and back. The front brake lever is sticky. What I mean by that is when I brake the lever stays in that position when I pull it in and to disengage it I have to push it back out. How do I fix this?
- Does the fuel tank size have any impact on fuel economy between vehicles? For example the new Honda Accords have a 56 Litre tank while the CRV has a 53 L and the Rogue a 55 L. Now the 2 latters are compact crossovers and are arguably bigger in size than the Accord, so would that mean they are using up more gas? Would that mean its better to buy the Accord if we were going based on just gas mileage?
