How to identify and fix the problem of an overheating car? - 1

Added (1). I drive a 1998 honda civic ex 2 door. Not until today my car has been over heating, I don't know much about cars but please if anyone has any idea what i can do or any videos i can watch, I'd really appreciate it

Coolant

You have a electric fan in this vehicle. Turn on the key to run and turn on the A/C switch (doesn't mater if the A/C works or not) the fan should come on. If it doesn't then your on your way to knowing the cause of the overheating. Do all todays kids need a video to watch to understand everything?

Start with stuff that won't cost you money, you'll probably need it later on.
Do all checks involving the cooling system when it's all cold.
Check the coolant level in the radiator and expansion tank if you have one.
Check for any water leaks and/or split hoses. You could see coolant on the floor, or crusty white deposits where it has dried.
Check the radiator fan works by running the a/c or just letting the car idle after a drive so it heats up.
Check the thermostat. If you can use a spanner/wrench remove the thermostat altogether and drop it into boiling water and it should open. If you're not sure just run the car without a thermostat and see what happens. Otherwise check the top hose gets hot.
Check the radiator is not blocked. If it's full of rusty coloured water, that's not good. Let the engine warm up and check the radiator is evenly warm, including the inlet and outlet hoses.
The usual cause of overheating is a warped head (blown head ga$$ket). Check under the oil filler cap for creamy coffee brown sludge, or water and or steam/vapour coming from the exhaust, and oil droplets in the radiator. A pressure check can be done very quickly and the tech should not charge you.

Understand how the system works.

Is anything leaking? What is the temp gauge reading?

  • Please identify this motorcycle for me? It is a honda VTR between the years of 1997-2001. It doesn't specify on the side whether it is a VTR1000F or a VTR250. All it says is VTR in red letters near the bottom of the front casing. The color scheme is turquoise and white if that helps at all in identifying the model.
  • Help identify a small KEIHIN carburetor? I bought a small Honda dirt bike with this carburetor on it. Turns out it is missing the needle. The bike itself is made from various parts (mostly Honda). There's a "custom" adapter be twine this carburetor and the engine leading me to believe it is not original to this bike. What did it come off of? When was it made? Added (1). The only markings i can find are "CA95D" and "H1" or "HI". Front opening is a bought 28mm.
  • How should I fix this Atc Big Red 200es problem? While riding my 1984 Honda Big Red 200es, once the engine gets hot it will lose it's spark, and once it cools again, will run. I've checked and changed the spark plug connectors and the wires near the motor but it still has the problem. If someone out there has had this problem and can help that would be great.
  • How can i fix this Honda Dio? Can i fix it by my own? I wanted to check the front brakes, si i started and raced it holding the front brakes alone. My fingers sliped from the break and I crashed my Dio straight to the wall. Reffer the picture.
