Installing an aftermarket sensor?
Hi, so I have a 2002 Honda civic LX model with a stock non-vtec engine. I recently bought a gauge cluster pod containing electric oil temp, oil pressure, and water temp gauges from a guy on craigslist, it was $40 and it looked cool so I figured why not just for sh*ts and giggles. The LX model that I have doesn't come stock with an oil temp and pressure sensor though (that I know of) an I was wondering what it would take to install one that can be wired up to the gauges? I've tried asking multiple shops but the majority refuse to install it or help with it because I didn't buy the gauges from them (completely understandable) and they can't keep it under shop warranty.
Throw it in the garbage and forget about it. Any other option compromises the car and will cause problems.
First, you should check to see that the gauge cluster will plug into your wiring harness. You may have the wrong connector or the wires may be in a different position in the harness. My son put a 4x4 dash in a 2x4 that he converted to 4x4 and wanted the 4x4 light. We had to move some of the wires in the connector in addition to running 4x4 wires. If you can make the cluster plug in and work with your existing sensors, you would just have to replace the idiot light oil pressure sensor with a variable pressure sensor and mount an oil temperature sensor in the engine and wire it up.
- Where can I find a genuine 1994 Honda Fourtrax carb no aftermarket stuff? Can't seem to find one only aftermarket junk already bought one and it wouldn't run properly, thanks in advance
- Should I use a silicone sealant and/or blue loctite when installing a stator on a motorcycle? The stator recently went out on my 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 and I'm currently waiting on the replacement stator to arrive. It's come to attention that some people use blue loctite when bolting in the stator into the case, then a silicone sealant around the case when re-bolting it to the bike. Is this necessary/recommended and what kind of sealant should I use for the case if I need some?
- Is it okay to use an aftermarket AC condenser in my 2011 Honda Fit? I need to replace a leaking AC condenser in my Honda Fit. The dealer quoted me a ton so I'm taking it to an AC repair shop. However, the repair shop doesn't use parts from the original manufacturer. The owner told me that the aftermarket condenser has the same specifications though. My concern is that the dealer warned me about aftermarket parts because the pressures involved could mess up other parts. Should it be okay as long as the specifications are the same?
