My 00 Honda Civic cranks but won't start?
Last Sunday my 00 Honda Civic was running fine, it was low on gas I figured I'd get it Monday morning but when I came out to go to work it wouldn't start. I gave it a jump and it still would not turn on. I finally got it to start up a few days later and then again the next morning it wouldn't start. Yesterday I got it to start with no problem, filled up the tank, went a few places with no problem and now this morning it will not start again. It cranks but won't start and after a while of cranking the lights start to get dim and it sounds like it's stalling out. What could the problem be?
You'll need professional help on the Civic: The possibility is endless: It could be defects in the charging system like battery, alternator, ELD (Electric Load Detector) etc. Or the battery is going down due to the car won't start and you're keep cranking it,
Or it's in the ignition system, fuel system, mechanical defects etc. Do not waste the time and waiting for someone from this forum to explain to you. I would if I have more information from a diagnostic standpoint. Let someone who knows some basic knowledge about car and do some tests then relate whatever the finding then I can be helpful.
Try to do some reading and testing in these links and video:

Hi so what do you expect from a 14 year old car well past it's scrap date.
There are two main things that prevent a engine from starting, fuel and spark. Until you find out which one it is you will only get other peoples opinion.
Alternator or starter.
If it cranks and starts sometimes it might be as simple as dirty connections on ignition system/battery terminals. I had the same problem. Clean all connections
- 2004 Honda Pilot Cranks but won't start if I press the gas when starting it starts.Engine lights is off,? Maintenance required is on but when I reset the lights turned off and everything works for now? What would be the problem? 1. I'm thinking it is the Timing belts slips 2. Relay maybe lose 3. Crank position sensor lose What would be the reason trying to get opinion and will look into it whatever is the best possible problem.
- I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
- My car won't start but when I try to start it, it sounds like a power drill? I have a 95 Honda Civic and it does not start it keeps making a noise that sounds like a power drill spinning. I have no idea what it is or could be any more. I've pulled the starter and put in a new one and the starter is still not catching the fly wheel. I have even resorted to charging the battery, checking all fluids (transmission, antifreeze, etc.) and putting in 5 gallons of gas but still nothing, can't pay to get it to a shop. Anything helps thanks.
- My car cranks but doesn't start? My car is a 1997 Honda Civic Dx my engine is a d16y7 and my car used to turn on then I did a compression check and they were low and when I put the spark plugs back it didn't want to turn back on BUT it does stutter like its wants to turn on but it can't and it smells like fuel and the spark plugs are wet with fuel and has black fuzzy stuff probably because it tried to turn on I don't know what's up
