Am I being overcharged by my Honda dealer?
I want to do a tune-up (new spark plugs) and change the ATF on my Honda Civic with 70k miles. Dealer is quoting $299. Are they ripping me off?
A dealers prices are always the highest but they do the best work
At the dealers, that sounds like about average price. If you think they are ripping you off then why don't you go some where else and get a price.
Probably a good price from a dealer. How accessible are the spark plugs? On my V6, the rear bank is invisible and inaccessible: a lot of ancillaries must be removed to get down to it. My independent mechanic charged $300 to replace 6 plugs… Less than half of what the dealer wanted. He also charged $350 to drain transmission & AWD unit, replace two filters, refill - - - but on my car that involved disconnecting one of the front drive axles so considered it a good deal (dealer wanted $1000) … I would think that $100-$125 should be about right for a non-AWD vehicle… And well worth it for the little premium over one of those "flush machine" jobs.
Well its a quote and not a bad one.Remember you can call around for second estimates. Also they will upsell you on other maintenance procedures to get you in once there.Take them or leave them your not obligated to do them. But at 70k ask about getting the timing belt replaced since its getting in the area of replacement
- What's the deal with honda not being able to use coolants with silicates if it makes the coolant better and safer for the engine. Reason? Is it for a reason or just honda wants our cars to last shortly? Any more answers i was checking out that video then checked and notice newer cars don't use the coolant anymore so what's the deal we have to go back to inferior coolant i've read it eats the seals in cars? Any more information?
- Paying for Honda Loaner Car From Dealership while Paint Recall is Being Fixed? I'm going to be paying $33/day for (1 to 2 weeks) for a loaner car from my honda dealership while its away in the shop. Is there any flexibility in picking what car I want or do they automatically assign me a car. I feel like since i'm paying i should be able to pick what car I want, or even pay a little more for something nicer?
- Does being a security guard have okay pay? I'm planning on getting a cheap motorcycle when i graduate, like a honda cbr 250 off craigslist and I'm wondering if the pay of a security guard would be able to afford its insurance and 250$ of rent per month. (My roommate and i are gonna split it) How much money do you guys think i might have left over? I know this is a extremely broad question but just make assumptions to fill in the blanks because I'm not even there yet.
- Can I buy a motorcycle from a dealer being under 16? If I go to a dealer can I buy a motorcycle if I don't get a loan on it. I live in California. Also what should I expect would they give me a hard time or ask my parents if they're sure about they're decision and make them sign papers. Or will it be simple and I could just walk out the door with my new Honda Grom. I pay for it in full cash could I get it?
