Purchasing VS Leasing a car? For First car?

I'm very new to this car business, any suggestions is truly appreciated. It will
be initially my first car. Honda dealer is offering a brand new Honda Civic 2014
leasing for 36 months with $0 downpayment and $149 per month. Total deal $16,950. Is this a good deal? I have to pay the remaining balance of i wish to keep the car after 3 years. They said they will cover maintanence uptill 2 years. Anyone using Honda Civic 2014 right now? Pros/cons?

It is a good deal. As your first car I would suggest buying. There are to many extra expenses you could run into at the end of your lease. You got to do your homework and read the small print. First get a real price from the dealer, $0 down and only $149 a month everyone would leasing cars. That price gets you in the door and then you apply for the car and it shoots up to $200+ a month with a down payment.

Gifford is right. Also leasing is good if you wish to change cars every few years and just walk away to another one. Unless you are very financially secure don't buy a new car or lease get a car that will last but new cars the second you drive them off the lot they lose a few grand in value. Go find a used 2010 Civic a lease return and try to buy that your payments may be 300 plus a month and then another 100-150 for insurance then all the maintenance for the car so unless you have an extra 500 a month you are not ready to purchase ANY car unless it is cash for a older car which I think may be your best bet.

  • Purchasing Scooter Insurance? Hypothetically-- Can one purchase Insurance for a motorized scooter (Vespas, Honda Activa… 125cc,150cc) with a Class C Driver s License? Or, does one must attain a M1 License to buy insurance? This is for California inquiry. So, thanks to anyone who could help.
  • How do I get license plates and registration after purchasing a car from the dealership? I bought a "certified used" Honda from a honda dealership in North Carolina. They gave me a slip of paper that says 30 day temporary marker receipt and a paper tag. I paid for the tax and tag so I assume they are handling this. But do I need to pay them a visit to pick up my tag? How does this work. It wasn't explained well. Any advice is appreciated. I haven't calle them yet because I want to be a bit more educated so I don't sound stupid when I call.
  • Do leasing companies check your mileage every year or just st the end of the lease term? I was thinking about leasing a new Honda, but they only want to give me 12,000 miles per year. Is that the kind of thing they check every year or can I get away with driving more one year, as long as I keep my mileage low the next year?
