Should I get another car?
I drive a 2000 Taurus. It has about 130k miles on it, and lately it's been a money pit. Since I've bought it in
2011, I've put about $4,000 into the car and I'm just tired of putting more money in it.
Recently, the A/C compressor broke. Because of this, it snapped my serpentine belt and left me stranded at 2 in the morning on the other side of town. I was finally able to start it up, and like an idiot, I drove it home even thought it was overheating and didn't have power steering. Whoops. I had it towed to my mechanic the next day, and he told me the A/C compressor is about $500 to remove (and have replaced by a belt) or $1000 to replace. It also had a bulge on the front tire, and still needs about $300 worth of scheduled maintenance (filters, belts, etc). Plus whatever damage I did driving it overheated. (there was no check engine light, but who knows).
My parents bought it for me when I was 17. I'm 20 now. I really want a 1993-2002 Toyota Corolla because I hear they are very reliable. I'm going to look at a '99 tomorrow with 123k miles on it. But my family thinks I'm crazy for buying another older car. But I hear that Corollas are bulletproof if maintained properly, and I plan on getting it inspected by a mechanic before buying it.
What do you think. Should I repair my Taurus, buy a 15 year old Corolla or Civic, or lease a new car? Of those options, I think getting a Toyota or Honda is the best, but I'm uncertain.
Your car was poorly rated when it was new. Dump it.
Hi yes the modern motor car was designed to last just 8 years anything over that time scal would have been a bonus.
this does not just apply to the standard car it also applies to the prestige makes even more so like BMW AUDI and Mercedes.
Taurus are not good cars.
- Where can I go to service my car for maintenance if I'm in another city? My maintenence light warning came on today on my Honda and I'm currently in another city for work. Can I go the nearest Honda dealer to get it serviced or would I have to go through a mechanic
- Can a dealer get a vehicle from another make? I have been going online recently, have seen the triumph daytona 675, and would like to look at and (probably) buy one, however the shop in town is a honda motorcycles, will they be able to source a bike from another make or are they stuck with new hondas? (the nearest triumph dealer is a good 2-3 hours drive away)
- Can i used another car models spark plugs to my car? I have sparkplugs for a toyota avalon V6 And they fit on my honda accord I want to know if i can use them Will it affect it mechanically
- Should I buy another car? I currently own a 2004 Honda Civic Si Ep3 with the HFP package. It has 159k miles and is in perfect running conditions. I really like the way the car looks and how unique and rare it is, but I'm deeply disappointed in how underpowered it is. I want to buy another car, preferably an S2000. I feel like I could get a decent amount of money if I sold the EP3, should I sell it and buy an S2000?
