Why is my Honda getting horrible fuel mileage?

My '97 Honda Civic LX has always gotten great fuel economy. But here recently, I've noticed it hasn't been so great. So I decided to drive perfectly normal to test it. After I was completely out of gas, I put in 1.75 gallons of gas. I reset the trip odometer and went 15 miles. After that, I was almost out of gas because it was difficult to start. It has new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button and does not hesitate or misfire at all. She runs beautifully but gets such horrible mileage now. Any idea why?

When was the oil last checked/changed? If the engine is good, look at rolling resistance - brakes rubbing etc. Checkout the transmission, too, especially if it's an automatic

Change then air filter and pcv valve have all oils changed install sn in all that can be done how many miles you didn't say 97 60 to 100,000 have fuel system checked also what is your avg milage also change the gas you use to another brand, are tire preeure correct

  • Why isn't my 1989 honda vtr 250 getting a spark? I just bought a 1989 honda vtr 250 it has a strong crank like it wants to start but won't start. The battery was bad so I had to use a bigger battery from my dad's motorcycle and it would crank stron but still nothing. We took out the spark plug and put it in the wire and held it near frame and no spark at all while cranking, could it be a bad ignition coil, rectifier, or stator or what?
  • Honda ruckus 50 is not getting fuel? My friend has a Honda ruckus, he called me because I'm supposed to be the mechanical genius but I have no idea what this, The fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor works, The fuel pump clicks but is not sucking any fuel, there's fuel in the fuel filter… But the pump still won't work. It is getting power and making a clicking sound but it is not doing ****. What can I do to fix this without getting a new pump,… All answers are appreciated.
  • Does the fuel tank size have any impact on fuel economy between vehicles? For example the new Honda Accords have a 56 Litre tank while the CRV has a 53 L and the Rogue a 55 L. Now the 2 latters are compact crossovers and are arguably bigger in size than the Accord, so would that mean they are using up more gas? Would that mean its better to buy the Accord if we were going based on just gas mileage?
  • Why isn't fuel getting to engine in my 03 Honda civic? No CEL. Always cranks. Starts sometimes. If it starts and I turn it off, it will always start up if I try right away. However, if I wait a few minutes after turning off, it will not start for a few hours. Anyway, when the car doesn't start, fuel gets to the line that leads into the fuel injector rail, but not to the engine. Could all the fuel injectors decide not to work at the same time? Could there be something wrong with the fuel rail? Is there something else that could cause this?
