4Cyl or 6Cyl Jeep Wrangler?
Now before you jump in and just say the 6, please tell me why and if you have experience with wranglers that would be great. THIS WILL NOT BE MY DAILY DRIVER. I may from time to time get on the highway with it but nothing more that 20 minute drives. This is mostly going to be used for offroad and driving around town. I will do slight mods with either a 3 or 4.5 lift. 31 to 33 tires. Been told not to go higher than 31 with the 4 banger.
Now, I have done some looking and so far I mostly see the 4cyl in a good price range, and I get it most people want the 4.0 6cyl for obvious reasons.
The 2.5 I found has 4.11 Gearing and the dealership said it is quick for a 4 banger. Said that he followed the guy driving it back and had a hard time keeping up that the guy since he was going 80 on the highway. I've been told if you find a good deal, that not to worry the 4Cyl will be fine.
That being said I already drive a 4Cyl Honda CRV, you can't get much slower for a car. I'm not looking at racing someone, if I was I would be getting a mustang. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Edit: test drive both to see if you need the power of the 4.0L
1. You need to do more research.
2. The guy trying to keep up with the Jeep did not have eyes on the RPM gauge.
3. What kind of terrain are you going to be in? That is a big determination on gearing and tire size.
4. With a 4 cyl and 31's you should want 4.56's or 4.88. With 33's; 4.88 or even 5.13's. Going from 4.10's to 4.56 is not really cost effective though, especially if you are not putting a traction device at least in the rear.
5. The biggest issue that you are going to face is the weak rear end when you start going deeper in gearing and adding ttaction.
6. Offroad, nobody is happy with a 4 cyl unless you stay below 31's and only play in mud and sand.
7. Go buy a book by Jim Allen and read.
- Jeep wrangler vs jetta tdi? I've had my loyal honda for 7 years. Sense it is on its way out I have been looking into different cars. I would like something I can attach a small trailer to and haul my two quads. I've been looking at the 2011 jetta tdi and the 2005 wrangler (4.0). I drive a lot so I prefer something that is good on fuel. I also want to haul my quads. Would the jetta be good?
- Should i buy a 94 jeep wrangler or a 99 honda civic? Hi, I'm 16 and looking to buy a car I found a nice Honda in great condition and my dad is trying to buy me a 1994 jeep wrangler that I really don't want. Is there any way to convince him to help me buy the honda. Or should I just get the jeep
- Keep my honda or go for the jeep wrangler? I'm interested in a 1997 jeep wrangler sport. 5 speed manual. All blacked. Its 6cyl. 130k on it. Very clean. I now have a 1997 honda civic cx hatchback with a b16a2 engine swap n trans. I got a guy that wants to buy it. Should I keep my honda on should I go for the jeep. The jeep would be my dd. I love the look of the jeep. Are they as reliable as the honda? Cost efficient
