Most Honda engines have been interference engines for a long time. I would have to assume that a briken timing belt would mean bent valves.

The timing belt doesn't interfere but the valves will get bent real quick if the timing belt breaks or jumps more than 2 teeth!

Pretty much all Hondas I've come across are interference. Make sure you change the timing belt.

Your 1999 Honda CRV does indeed have an interference engine. The cam belt and water pump should be replaced every 105,000 miles or every 10 years whichever comes first. If the belt breaks you will have serious internal engine damage. After 2006 all Honda 4 cylinder engines are NOT interference engines but all V6 engines ARE interference engines.
