No - you need to go to an auto parts store and have them attach the OBD code reader… There's more steps that need to be done; contact me for more info
All depends on the REASON the Check Engine Light(CEL) is on. A CEL can illuminate for literally hundreds of different reasons. Only a small fraction of those reasons would cause you to fail an emissions test. Go to your local auto parts store and have them scan your "OBD-II port". If any of the trouble codes that pop up involve any emissions component(s), this can indeed cause your car to fail emissions. Such components include "catalytic converter, O2 or heated oxygen sensor, EGR valve, PCV system", and a few others. The person that scans your codes should be able to look up what they mean and what part(s) they indicate are failing.
I would not think so it needs service first.
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Test light on positive lead on starter relay comes on when the motorcycle is off, when bike key is turn on, test light is off? Does this mean starter relay is bad? I'm trying to diagnose my electrical problem on a honda cbr f4. The lights turned on but when I tried to start bike all power shut off and now nothing powers on.
- Honda CRV 2003-check engine light? My check engine light won't go off; it has only 40,000 miles on it (real mileage). I also bought a new gas cap--so that isn't it. Can't find my manual either. How do I reset it, I'm thinking it is for oil maintenance but that was changed 1500 miles ago. I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealer. It runs great and the gauges don't indicate any problems--Thank you for any help you can give me.
- My check engine light was flashing yesterday and now it's off, and today my red oil change light was flashing earlier and then stopped? What does that mean? I drive a Honda Accord, if that helps. My car is driving fine (just a slight jerking every now and then, but that's another issue i'll get fixed). The fact that it did that then stopped worries me… Help?!
