With so little information we're hardly in a position to tell you if the car is worth buying. What condition is the car in mechanically? Is it a well kept 160,000 miles or a ridden rough and put away wet 160k? What's cosmetic condition of the car? What is the asking price?
In general, I would say no, such a high mileage car is not worth buying because you can't afford to maintain this old worn out car. If you had money, you'd' be looking at a newer lower mileage vehicle.
The Prelude was an awesome car in its day, but being over 22 years old means many parts may wear out just from age alone. Hard to believe there are still 20 year old Honda's with less than 200,000 miles.
You must decide on how to spend your own money, but I would look at cars made after 2003 if your smart.
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
- Is it worth buying an older car with original miles? I'm looking at this 98 Honda Prelude Sh that has 20k original miles. They're asking 14 grand for this car which normally would turn me away. But I see similar preludes around my area that sell for about 5-6 grand with "reasonable" miles. (140k-170k). Now I'm having second thoughts, any suggestions? No doubt I'm in love with this prelude, but 14 grand is gut wrenching.
- Is a $20,000 Honda S2000 07 worth buying? This man I know is selling his Honda s2000 year 2007 for 20 grand. Is it worth buying? Everything's in good condition
- Is it worth buying a used Chevy Volt with over 100K miles on it? The price is right, but is it worth it? I know I would have to install a power charging station which is an additional 1000 dollars. There's one for sale at 14,500 dollars… But most used Volts are around 23,000 dollars. My other two considerations are a new 2015 Honda Fit or a used Mark 6 VW Golf TDI I've seen people on youtube who average 120 mpg with the volt! One guy's was even 1000 mpg, I don't think he even brought it to the gas station since he bought the car!
