1983 honda nighthawk 650 won't start?

Added (1). ok so when i try starting it i get one click (for every separate time i push the starting button) and it comes from the starting solenoid, i've charged the battery, and tightened the battery terminal connections, and does the same thing. It was running before perfectly fine, i've tried to bypass the solenoid with a wire and it does absolutely nothing, should i buy a new solenoid? I've even hooked it up to a car, and a jumper.

Before you do too much work charge up the battery again and than take it to a shop that can 'load-test' a motorcycle battery, the battery may have lost all of its amperage load capability, thus plain dead. Another thing to check is the starter ground connection, where it mounts to the case and the lead wire at the starter.

Another check - the (-) cable where it connects to the bike (not the battery).

  • Where can I find extended cables for a Honda nighthawk 650? I just am tired of leaning over and I want to do a mini ape set up with like a 9 inch rise so where can I find the throttle cable both push and pull, the brake, hydraulic clutch, speedo and tach thanks
  • What is the difference between a 2003 honda shadow 600 and 650? What are the differences between a 2003 honda shadow 600 and 650, I can't find any info anywhere! Besides actually engine size what is different? Are the frames different? Are the internals to the engine different in the 650? Any light shed on this would be very helpful!
  • My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
  • I have a 1983 night hawk 650 and I want to change the clutch/brake levers? I have a 1983 honda night hawk 650 and I want to change the clutch/brake levers. Are there any modern short style levers that would fit? Like the little two finger levers that you see on modern sport bikes and stunt bikes?
