2012 Honda Shadow problem?

I just rode through the desert from Las Vegas to Riverside, but here my bike died. 2012 honda shadow phantom, 1200 total miles, had maintenance 500 miles ago. I'm hoping it just got too hot, how can I make it start up again? I'm currently waiting for a ride so any advice much appreciated.

Back to basics: no gas, no spark, no mix of fuel and air. Spark's easy to check: pull a plug and see if it sparks against the case. Gas is easy to check: pull a fuel line and see if it comes out. Battery voltage is easy to check with a DVM. ALFTO Always look for the obvious. 500 miles isn't that far. Could be a loose plug or wire or a loose battery connection. Wiggle stuff. Look at stuff.

Did you want to give us some clues, some symptoms to work with? Or should we just start guessing randomly?

No Clues huh? O.K.

Out of gas
Loose wire
Bad coil
Bad fuel pump
Bad ignition
Plugged injectors
Plugged fuel filter
Bad TPS
Bad CPU
Vapor locked
Clogged tank vent
Bad charging system
Shorted tach wire.

See without a hint, this is all I can do

Does the engine even "turn over"? Avatar Ryde On is right, your description is very ambiguous.
If you did NOT CHECK THE OIL, it was TOO LOW, you drove too fast, too hard and ignored the desert heat, it could be serious.
If the battery is a" wet cell" and is LOW ON WATER due to excessive desert heat( and just isn't operating properly) , another possibility.
As you have given us no specifics of the nature of your bike's "death", we don't know if it is electrical or mechanical.
Just like people, Motorcycles "DIE" for a myriad of different reasons.
The fact that you mention that the engine might have "gotten too hot" is no small matter. TOO HOT means compromised oil/ lubrication, and that is never a small matter with engines.
