Looking for ideas for my next motorcycle? - 1

Added (1). I've only ridden rockets my entire riding carrer but I would like to start getting into cruisers. I know I like the look of thicker forks like what's stock on the honda phantom but I would like other ideas as well. I know I want fuel injectiong for sure, where I live about 50% of the time its under 40 degrees and I don't want to deal with a long warm up time. I also need it to be under $4500. I'm not quite ready to give up all the speed of my rockets but I need to be more comfortable on long rides.

Why don't you take a look at some bobbers? They're like in between choppers, and cruisers in a way.

Under 40 degrees? Get a bike with a 450 watt alternator so you can power a Gerbing electric riding suit, dude.

Would you like to drive a boss hoss which is a cruiser and a powerfull motorcycle

As I see it, you have a choice in cruisers of big or small. For the same $4500 you could get a used Road Star or a big Vulcan 1600 or 1700, or you could get a smaller, lighter cruiser like a Vulcan 900 or Honda Shadow 750. The bigger bikes have definite advantages on long trips carrying gear, riding two up. The smaller cruisers are lighter and easier to handle in town but will still cruise the highway pretty well.

All the Japanese mfgrs are very good. Harleys are fine but they're just really expensive compared to the Japanese iron (we should change that term to 'aluminum'). Most cruisers today have belt or shaft drive, which I think is a plus. They're twins so they have different power curves than a sport four, meaning torque at low RPMs instead of HP at higher RPMs, so you don't get that exciting rush of power at the top of the tachometer. The vibration is a little annoying at first but you get to like it. The seating position takes some getting used to, but you'll get comfortable with that too. (Richard Hammond, of Top Gear fame, compared the cruiser seating position to sitting on a padded toilet seat while playing the piano.)

2006 Suzi 800 cruiser in local paper for $3000.00. Shaft drive, fuel injection likely that year, 23,000 miles is broke in with 50,000 miles likely before maybe some valve and ring service. 1100cc Honda V4 something-Shadow?- for $3500.00 2010 with some scratches from parking lot knockover/fall down and 12000 miles, new back tire-- and owner has new kid. Big Yamaha Vstar about same vintage and miles- 2010 or 2012, 8000 miles, $3000.00 asked by lawyer of the drunk driver owner, title signed and court order to sell cycle, court gets 1/2 the money.

  • What size motorcycle should I get next? So I've had my Honda rebel for about 2 years now and am wanting to move up. First off I'm a very small woman, I'm 5 3" and weigh around 120 lbs. My boyfriend is worried I can't handle a big bike and I'm just looking for someone a bit more knowledgeable on the subject. He doesn't want me to get anything bigger, but I feel I'm ready. Any thoughts?
  • Looking for motorcycle head lights and windscreen for Honda 919? I'm looking for these exact duel headlights and windscreen for a honda 919. I like the look of these better than the standard single headlight and i want something covering the spedo. Can anyone tell me the brand and name of these products?
  • I'm 5'4 I weigh 130 looking for cruiser/standard starter motorcycle? I want fwy accessible as well good for road trips up through the mountains. Possible durable for a Sturgis trip. But back to the basics. I'm tiny and I yes need to plant my feet on the ground to keep a bike up. I was looking at the Honda CBR300r but that is not good for long distances. I need a long distance and feh accessible motorcycle where I can sit up and not hunch or lay on a bike. Any thoughts advice on style type motorcycle for a beginner? No Vespa scooters or sports type.
