Motorcycle engine cutting out when lights are on?

Just recently my old motorcycle (Honda Dream Exces 100, probably bought by my pops back in 2002) would shut off during neutral state when my headlights are on, except the signal and brake lights. Then it wouldn't start anymore. I have to turn off the lights to make it start. Then often when headlights' turned off, the engine starts but it was like cutting out and i noticed that the engine goes back to normal after accelerating it (in neutral state) for maybe 30 secs or a minute. Can someone help me, advise me what to do. Please.

Eh? The headlights on most bikes are on all of the time. You can turn yours on and off? Really? Aside from your poor description of the symptoms, sounds like an electrical problem… A short in the kill switch, perhaps, or the sidestand interlock switch, or a wire which has rubbed and is shorting to the frame.

You have a bad battery or a problem in your charging circuit.

The battery isn't holding a charge.

  • Will buying a newer mower solve my issue with dying while cutting thicker grass? I have an older 6.5 hp Toro and it dies frequently going through tall or thick grass. I bought a brand new Toro with a 190cc 7.25 ft/lb. Torque engine and it had the same problem, perhaps more so. If I spend a little more money (about $400 more than the new Toro) and get the Honda HRX217VKA will it make a difference? It also has a 190cc engine but I've read that the Honda engines are much better.
  • Why is my 2006 Honda Metropolitan cutting out at full throttle? When I give my moped full throttle and open it up all the way it just sounds bogged down plus the acceleration is terrible and I have to gradually give it has very slowly. We replaced the air cleaner, fuel filter, coolant, oil, put premium gas in it and also purchased some injector cleaner but it still does this. We thought it was the fuel filter but it hasn't changed it (very much). Any help is appreciated thanks in advance!
  • Mechanic said he rebuilt the engine, smoke coming out of engine, could it be the grease burning off? The mechanic said he rebuilt the engine to my 1974 Honda CB550 I bought from him. Said he rebuilt the engine and is in perfect running condition. He has many bikes lying around and seems as if he is a hobbyist for bikes. He told me that he basically greased up a lot of parts of the motor and it is burning the grease off. The next oil change I do should remove the excess grease.
  • Accidentally Took out the wrong engine cap in my Motorcycle while trying to drain the Engine Oil? My Motorcycle is a Honda XRM. I was trying to change engine oil but opened a different screw/cap just beside the engine oil drain.A 5 inch long spring and a rod with holes came out, i put it back the way i think it should be, then opened the Drain cap, drained the engine oil and filled it with new oil. But when i start the motorcycle it sounded like there's something loose moving inside the engine. What is the rod and spring that came out? Is it critical?
