My Honda shadow vt 125 has problems?
My bike really struggles to start, I have to hold the ignition down for ages again and again. The engine will keep turning over but it won't accelerate, eventually once it starts and I turn the throttle it is sluggish to pick up revs.
As soon as I let go of the throttle and leave it to idle it cuts out. If I get it started and ride it, sometimes it will go for the full journey, sometimes it just cuts out and slows down very fast whilst moving even with the throttle on.
Also i can hear a popping/puffing sound coming from somewhere in the bike, not sure what that is, or if it is related.
Initially I was having problems with the battery not charging, I fixed that, so I don't think that has anything to do with it.
It's not due to cold, I have stood for five or ten minutes revving the bike to warm it up, it seems to start a bit easier with the choke on initially, but it still takes a long time.
If anyone has any ideas on how it can be fixed, I d like to be able to do it myself as I can't afford the mechanics at the moment, but if I need to take it there I will.
Any help would be much appreciated.
It could be bad fuel. If you left almost empty tank for a few days with temperature changing a lot water could have condensed on the walls of the fuel tank, and it could be fuel filter or air filter… Or at least those are cheapest and easiest things to check out.
Check your plug, if it looks normal then check the gap.
Clean the carburetor - especially the pilot jet.
The opening of the pilot jet is as thin as a pin head and gets easily clogged with bad gas.
- Which is the Best Scooter among Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Swish 125, TVS Jupiter? I'm planning to buy a scooter and I'm sceptical in my choice between Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Swish 125 Facelift, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access 125, from the mentioned scooters which could be the best choice with respect to Mileage, performance and maintenance free Vehicle?
- Honda cbr 125 fi problems? When in first second and third gear the bike keeps losing power, it feels like the clutch keeps engaging and disengaging, exactly like the bike is being whiskey throttled, the chain tension is fine and the clutch cable is properly adjusted, any ideas what it could be?
- GRS 125 or a Honda CBF 125? I'm stuck between the bikes, both look very reliable and build quality. The GRS 125 is new and is around 2000 pounds at my dealer, pretty bike and feels nice, Austrian made so its a European bike. The CBF125 is a 2010 model with 310 miles, pretty much new and seems nice too, it comes around 1700 pounds. So I was wondering which one I would be recommend as a starter bike and what's the better choice?
- 95 honda shadow vlx600 electrical problems? So I took it out for a ride this morning and it starts up fine, shifts fine, accelerates and does everything it's supposed to. I always have it on a trickle charger when not riding. Tested the battery after the incident and it came out to be 12.6 off the bike. I rode it for about 10 minutes, I started to pull into the parking lot and it completely shuts down on me, no lights, no dash, no power no nothing. Any suggestions? I was told it could possibly be the ignition switch?
